North Bucks Carers
A support group for adult carers (aged 18 plus)

More information can be found on the North Bucks Carers website.

Did you know that in the UK there are more than 6 Million unpaid carers looking after someone with serious physical or mental health problems or addictions?. Each day another 6000 people find that their lives are changed for ever as they try to ensure that someone very close to them remains as independent as possible for as long as possible. In Buckinghamshire, unpaid Carers are often isolated and overworked, time out for themselves is a luxury they deserve but seldom receive especially in rural areas where transport is scarce and opportunities scarcer.

So if you are an unpaid carer, looking after someone close to you full or part time, regardless of whether you receive benefits or not why not come along and see for yourself just what North Bucks Carers social mornings have to offer?. We run a friendly, informal and fun social morning twice a month at the Community Centre in Buckingham which is free to everyone. If you have caring responsibilities then taking some time out, just for yourself, is important to your wellbeing and that's what these drop in sessions are all about. At both our morning sessions, a qualified therapist is on hand to offer free mini relaxation and beauty treatments which are very popular.

We organise a full programme including trips to the theatre and lunches. We are volunteer led and you will not be expected to sit on a committee or do anything more than turn up whenever you wish. Here you will find a place where you are heard and where the issues or problems that carers face may be helped through the services of the many expert contacts we have established links with.

The social mornings run on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month from 10 am to 12.30 at the Community Centre in Buckingham. For more information ring Margo on 01280 817420 or Carol on 01280 815512.

YC2 Buckingham & WinslowYoung Carers Youth Club
A support group and club for young carers (for carers under 18)

YC2 is the Buckingham & Winslow Youth Club for young carers aged between 8 and 18 years who live anywhere from Winslow to Finmere and all the surrounding villages. We welcome young people who have personal caring responsibilities for a family member, whether that person suffers from a mental health problem, a long term illness or physical or learning disability or alcohol or drugs addiction.

We meet at Buckingham Youth Centre on the 3rd Friday of each month from 7 to 9pm although regularly we have outings when we may go 10 pin bowling, ice gliding at the Sno!Zone, seeing the panto at MK theatre, orienteering at Caldecotte Lake or doing some other exciting activity. Most years we have a fun away weekend-this time it was to the Isle of Wight for a PGL adventure holiday. Transport can be arranged so even if you live outside Buckingham we can pick up and take you home.

Each member has a say in our programme and what we do. We cook, play sports, get creative with crafts, try out challenges and every club night there is always time to just chill out and catch up with the friends you will make. We can help if you have worries about school, home life or missing out on free time. Taking time out for yourself is important and YC2 is there to offer all sorts of opportunities to discover new friends who understand the sort of life you have and want to help.
